Outages, and the fog that comes with them.
The failure is bad. The information is worse. The status page stays green while your pager does not, the update says "elevated error rates" for the third hour running, and us-east-1 takes services with it that you were told were regional. Multi-AZ is not multi-region, the control plane is a dependency nobody drew on the diagram, and the post-incident report arrives after everyone has stopped caring.
